What the team read, watched and argued about this week.

Amazon rewrites its software engineer role guideline for the AI era

The guideline anchors the role on customer, business and team impact instead of any AI practice, which it expects to look dated within a year, and treats token usage and adoption as flawed signals rather than targets. Work that AI tooling does not help with is a finding to report, not a failing, and leaders are expected to use the tools on real work themselves. - Engineering Team

Tailworm: a security assessment of Tailscale and headscale

SSH socket-forwarding races that reach root, app connectors that accept any destination, and serve and funnel gaps, with most fixes in Tailscale 1.104.4 and headscale 0.29.7. If you run Tailscale, update first, then have your agent review your SSH grants against the report's per-pair recommendation. - Engineering Team

gh can attach screenshots and videos to issues and pull requests

gh issue and gh pr create, edit and comment take a repeatable --attach flag, and a local path already referenced in the body is rewritten to the uploaded URL in place. The team had been coaxing agents into putting images in PR descriptions; this makes it one flag. - Engineering Team

heyclicky, a desktop assistant that sees your screen on a hotkey

Press the hotkey and it looks at whatever app is open, answers out loud, walks you through a task or runs it for you, on Mac and Windows. We mostly approve of the name. - Engineering Team

Send broadcast test emails through the API and MCP

send_test mails a saved broadcast to one to five recipients, with optional test-only subject and sender overrides and personalized previews. The broadcast's content, schedule and audience stay untouched. - Engineering Team

Create resend drafts for unopened broadcast recipients

resend_unopened turns a broadcast completed at least 24 hours ago into an editable draft aimed at the contacts who did not open it, with the email, sender, topics and A/B settings copied over. - Engineering Team

Split-test results per variant

Broadcast stats with expand[]=variants break a split test down by recipients, unique clicks, unsubscribes, complaints and bounces, kept apart from the winner's send. Pick winners on clicks, not on privacy-inflated opens. - Engineering Team

Read the HTML a broadcast actually sent

sent_content returns the copy as it went out, frozen at send time, one version per distinct document, so later template edits no longer rewrite history. Split-test variants come back matched to their numbers. - Engineering Team

Cancelling a broadcast send returns the broadcast to draft

Deleting a send action now works like Convert to draft in the dashboard, so the broadcast can be edited and rescheduled. Before, it stayed scheduled forever with nothing behind it. - Engineering Team

Read full survey responses and receive a webhook when a survey is completed

List surveys with their current questions, fetch complete responses including anonymous ones, and get survey_workflow_run.completed when a respondent finishes. Each answer names its form field, so mapping to your own CRM fields is direct. - Engineering Team

Read the contacts currently at a workflow step

Workflow runs accept filter[current_step_id], paused runs included, and every run carries compact contact details. No more one contact lookup per result to see who is waiting. - Engineering Team

Enabling or disabling a workflow returns the new state

The responses used to show the old status, so scripts thought a saved change had failed. Both calls now move updated_at too, and enabling an invalid workflow returns 422 with the errors. - Engineering Team

Import hosted videos and attach them to course lessons

Import a hosted video, poll its processing status, then attach it to a lesson with video_id or image_id. Moving a course library in no longer means uploading each lesson by hand. - Engineering Team

Contact filter generation reports criteria it cannot resolve

A description naming a product that does not exist used to yield a broader filter built from the rest; now it is a 422 quoting the unresolved part. Bulk actions driven by a generated filter only hit the audience you described. - Engineering Team

A workspace can have up to 400 webhook endpoints

Creating a 401st endpoint returns 422; existing endpoints keep working and deleting one frees its slot at once. If your integration creates an endpoint per customer, have it clean up the ones it no longer needs. - Engineering Team
